My CrossFit Story

I have been doing CrossFit since March 2011. I started Crossfit because I wanted to get in the best shape I could for my upcoming basketball season. I was a college basketball athlete, and I wanted to take my conditioning to another level. Little did I know that I was going to fall in love with this sport. I have always been an athlete, but I have never found something so challenging, exhilarating, and competitive that tested my limits this much. I have progressed in many areas, and continue to do so. I have found something that I can do for the rest of my life.

My CrossFit Story

I started CrossFit when I moved to Mt. Washington after doing a little Brazilian jiu jitsu. I was looking for a place where I could workout at and talked with someone at Maximum fitness. I told them I wanted a workout that would challenge me and they told me to come in and try CrossFit. That first day, I got my ass kicked by everyone there and was exhausted. But that didn’t stop me. Ever since day one, I was hooked and I’ve never have stopped since.

My CrossFit Story

At 31 years old with 4 kids I was out of shape and in desperate need of energy. I had ran cross country and track in high school but wanted to get stronger along with gaining endurance. I found CrossFit on Tuesday the 13th of November in 2012 during “Hero week”. ( When your life changes you remember every detail!!!) My first work out or “WOD” was a hero work out called “Bulger”. I came no where close to finishing it in the 30 min time cap (7 rounds + 7 C2B modified) and was lying on the floor gasping for air asking what was the work out for tomorrow! I loved it, I was hooked. CrossFit is not only a way to achieve total fitness but the CrossFit community is so supportive and awesome. Everyone that I have met not only at our BOX but those from other states have open hearts!

Certifications/ Seminars:

  • I got my CrossFit Level 1 certification in February 2014 with a true love for the sport and want to help everyone I can achieve something that they couldn’t before!

CrossFit has taught me how to live a healthier life so the least I could do was give back to the community!

Occupation:

IT Operations Analyst at Humana
Crossfit Coach / Maxfit Bootcamp Coach

My Crossfit Story:

I started going to Maxfit bootcamp about 4 years ago with a friend from work who begged me to try it out with her. As much as I loved the workouts, all the cardio just wasn’t for me. I wanted something with more strength programming. Shortly after, I started doing a women’s strength program and still wanted more. Every day I would watch all the people in the back gym where crossfit was and always wondered what it was all about. One of the girls in my strength class invited me to try out a crossfit class with her. I was terrified. Little did I know from that day forward my life would change forever. It was the perfect mix of cardio and strength. I fell in love with the sport and the awesome community of people I was surrounded by. During crossfit you never stop reaching your goals. Once you hit one goal you move onto another one, whether it’s a higher weight, faster time or more complicated movement. The amount of pride you get when you hit a milestone and are able to do things you were not able to do days, weeks, months ago is indescribable. It’s changed my life for the better and I can’t wait to see where it takes me in the future.
